SESSION 17

This session continues Expedition 15. You can go back and read it here to get up to speed.

Last time, Raden and Üthred came to Stonehell to delve its depths for gold. Euphemia and Sidwel were employed as porters along with Nadia and Warrick as retainers. They firebombed goblins in the gatehouse, found a phantasmic scene of a previous party being ambushed, and partially explored a side chamber in the north canyon wall.

EXPEDITION 15b

2nd day of the 4th week of Winter. Heavy snow.

Üthred and Raden came stumbling out of the side chamber in the canyon wall to see a dark-skinned elf standing before them. "Hello, I've been waiting for a group to join in these parts. May I?" Warrick and Sidwel exchanged pipe weed as Üthred and Raden wrote up the necessary contracts for Renjji to join their party.

Üthred described the fire-chalk message they found in the chamber to Renji and they both went back in to write it down. On the wall, the dwarvish scrawl glowed a faint crimson.

"As agreed, the jewels await you two levels down in the chamber past the acolytes cells. How you deal with the wasps is your own concern! -M"

There, Renji got his turn to peek around the corner for a chance to see the beetle-like creature the party described. All he could see was two bug legs and the glowing underbelly. Renji motioned to some nearby posts from a ruined building by the gatehouse. "What if we get some logs and drop them on it?" They found two suitable posts and propped them above the archway. Üthred paid Warrick an extra 10gp to run in and bait the create out to which he reluctantly agreed. The plan worked marvelously. Warrick came running out with the Fire Beetle in tow and Renji and Nadia pulled the posts down, crushing the Beetle. Renji and Raden harvested the mandibles and glowing stomach acid. Uthred checked the den and found a dead goat. After they took a break to note down all the cave entrances and pathways they could see from their vantage point.

A statue by the North canyon wall was singled out and they examined it. The was of an armored human male. He was kneeling on one knee, head bowed, with a helmet on the ground beside him. In front of him was a rusted offering plate in the shape of the sun.

At one of the cave entrances they climb to, they find prints of a large feline.

d: Mountain lion in the cave? No.

Renji and Sidwel went back down for goat carcass to bring it back up for bait. Meanwhile, they checked inside and found a dead body in a hermit's dorm (Yellow and black checkered clothing longsword, trick cards, rusted mail, black shield with ghost outline painted on it, wine bladder, 15gp, red scarf). Raden checked a carved out altar and found Silver Sun Symbol of Lunasol (25gp). As they leave, Renji wrapped the brigand's body in the checkered clothing and tossed him down the valley wall.

Following the edge of the valley, they found an entrance to a subterranean facility next to the Stonehell entrance. Two of them lit torches and they went in.

4 Light Dice

Üthred tamed a rabid raccoon, they ransacked some dormitories for anything valuable, and Üthred got his nose broke from a sandbag doorway trap. In the room of the trap some type of foul dwarf-like scrawl said "HAHA DUM HUMAN!" Further in, Renji tried to bait out a snake to tame but it wasn't there, they found graffiti with names that have a stick figure specter after the name, and they locked a trapdoor of a pit trap in the final room. Renji wrote "DONT STAND ON ME" on it in fire chalk. They went back out into the valley and followed a trail to a cave on the other side. In the first chamber Üthred just barely spotted a crab spider on the ceiling and Nadia shoots it down.

Further in they found a deposit of Gypsum Goo, a cement making goo valuable to alchemists. Drawings were on the cave walls of The Mother stirge and orcs and goblins fighting each other. Renji poked some giant centipedes which rushed out! Uthred killed the first. Nadia shot the second, but not before it poisoned Renji. The party regathered and spread out in the cave to gather any valuables they could.

For the night they went back to the raccoon chamber and prepared for camp. Renji grabbed the brigands checkered clothing and buried him with Warrick. Renji took a bath guarded by Warrick in the waterfall pool and Üthred set a sandbag deadfall trap at door. In the same pool, Renji through the goat corpse to try and harvest a horn the next day. The night passed slowly. Raden heard human-like howls during his watch.

3rd day of the 4th week of Winter. Cloudy. Cold

In the morning, Renji got the goat horn and they travelled back. Floater tried to get them to pay but the party tells him to piss off. They arrived back at Fourtower without issues.
