WANDERING LANDSLOTH

Dungeons of Thistlemoor 14 // The Frozen Gatehouse 🌨️

SESSION 14

Adventurers

DOWNTIME 🪙

Raden payed 300gp in living costs and put money in the bank after buying a mail shirt (snake rings). Üthred spent the past week training with Athalgrim, learning how to disarm. I agreed with the player on this ability activating once they could successfully disarm a foe in-session

Disarm: when you hit a target take a stress to disarm.

EXPEDITION 15a

2nd day of the 4th week of Winter. Heavy snow.

They hired Euphemia, Sidwel, Nadia, and a new mercenary Warrick who agrees to bodyguard for pay instead of sharing the treasure (20gp/day). The travel to Stonehell was uneventful. Once they arrived at the Greenbottle Morass they met Floater the Ferryman (4ft tall "not a dwarf!", frowns) and his bodyguard who offered to navigate them through the ice on foot. They also let them know about the Mother Stirge coming out at night in the winter. Raden and Üthred split the price (10gp a head) and followed the ferryman, not sure if he was scamming them or not.

Once they arrived at Stonehell they explored the gatehouse, following the scent of a stew that led to furred-green kin. They firebombed them until all 5 were killed. 4 by fire and 1 by Nadia's bow. In an old study, Üthred smashed 3 giant centipedes underneath a rotting bed and stomped the 4th. In a previously looted hidden closet, they found a Scroll of Stone Barrage and Raden pocketed it for later. Raden and Üthred quickly cleared the upper level and then went to the other side with the group. In one of the rooms, they found phantasms of an adventuring party replaying their death around a long-cold fire. Üthred had Euphemia pick up a broken shield to repair later.

Lucky for the party, Nadia saw a greenkin hunter outside and the party gave chase. 3 of the hunters dropped a recently killed deer in their flight up the canyon wall and then began raining missile fire down. On the third arrow, Üthred grabbed it out of mid air and threw it like a dart at a goblin, striking it in the shoulder (natural 20!). The goblins failed their morale save and rain for dear life from the terrifying arrow man.

Gathering together, they checked out an archway in the canyon wall. Inside was a decomposing but frozen set of dwarve's legs (Mîn, a previous PC) and found a secret message on the wall in Fire Chalk. Üthred wrought it down and then they checked another hallway, finding an abandoned fire-ring with Fire Chalk (red, warm glow in torchlight) beside it. They look down the other passageway and decide to leave it once they realized it was a giant glowing beetle.

Warden Notes

I agreed with the players to continue their adventure from this spot if they played in the next session, so we left it here.
