SESSION 15

Adventurers

EXPEDITION 16

4th day of the 5th week of Winter. Clear. Bitter cold.

Greedo explained the previous trips to the Serpent tomb for the party to focus on finding new areas. After a morning on the King's road watching their breathe proceed before them, they arrived at the frozen riverbed. Three of them lit their torches, enjoying the heat to their stinging faces and marched in.

In the upper tomb, Vahn used a command spell to talk with a creature that was slamming behind one of the tomb doors in the rotunda. It told them its name was Sparamuntar and asked to be set free. After the party prepared their weapons, Vahn told it that he was going to open the door to share gold with it and get a tour of the dungeon.
Out came a 8ft snake man skeleton with a silver axe. Vahn trembled and lifted up his hands, offering it a meager 5 gold pounds. Nope. But before it could smite the helpless knight, Bill and Surf's arrow and quarrel spliced its spine and Toby cut off its forearms. The bones started to rattle and the party took quick action to pulverize, separate and char the bones with their torch flame so it could not reform.
Inside its chamber, they found a silver pitcher with engravings of snakes coiled around it (20gp) and two dozen golden rings of snakes eating their tales (30gp).

Toby opened the ornate east door of the rotunda (carved image of snakes falling from the sky) and began descending the stairs. As Greedo remembered hearing about some sort of stair slide trap, Toby stepped on the trigger. They tied rope around his waist and let him step off. Sure enough, the stairs turned together into a slide. With Toby's own torch, they let him down by the rope to see what was at the bottom. This went on for a while and they eventually brought him up to allow Vahn the same opportunity. In the lower room was a Stone Cobra Warrior golem of some kind that crushed a miniature goose Bill had but couldn't chase them back up the stairs. Surf loosed some quarrels at it from the top but to no result. They moved on.

Greedo led them through a secret hallway to a vast pillared chamber and told them it contained some type of petrifying creature. Vahn noticed the chain to the ceiling and decided to climb it. "The ceiling must be a dome of gold! I'm going to be rich!" With some sound distractions from the party, Vahn scrurried up the chain and disappointingly discovered that the ceiling was merely mosaics of victorious snake men warriors in various parts of the Thistlemoor.
A couple close calls with the 8-legged creature are made, including it focusing on the suspended Vahn, causing his blood to slow and body to lock up, but the party is able to make more distractions and Vahn climbed back down. In a side room, he found 4 rotting tapestries and stuffed 3 in his bag, running back to the secret passageway.

Back at Four Tower Bridge, they sold the pitcher, rings, and tapestries to the Auction house for 350gp and split it amongst the party.

Warden Notes

This was played during a new years party from 2-4am. Voice was gone. Two new players. The one for Vahn was awesome. Earlier that night, we played a bit of the same dungeon informally and he died to a skeleton. Vahn became his second character that came back to avenge his brother's death. Tracking turns in pretty hard for me. Unless I decide on a round-table player turn order to track things, I don't think it's very possible to do it well. I ended up asking for Light Dice rolls whenever it felt like 10m passed in the in-game world.
