DOWNTIME
Over the past couple of weeks, Grimnîr put 290gp in Athalgrim’s vault and Üthred buried 98gp. Üthred also had Dagunn identify the glowing stick he found. It is a Shatter Stick, an enchanted branch that shatters on impact (6dmg blast).
EXPEDITION 11
2nd day of the 12th week of Autumn. Cool and breezy.
Greedo talked with Athalgrim about the gnoll problem on the east road and Athalgrim offered them 30gp a head. So far, the gnolls harassed travelers and even a homestead or two. Athalgrim told him to check out the homesteads and wood lodges along the road for more details. Grimnîr asked around the Moorland Magpie for any information about the gnolls and heard some rumors that gnolls are transformed beings that turned to cannibalism, changing them into bipedal hyenas with lanky appendages. After that, they set off down the King’s Road in search of the creatures. \
In the shadow of the Twoshard Mountains, they found a game trail that went North into the wood and a stone path going towards a small lodge. They followed the latter. \
The lodge’s chimney was crumbled, destroyed by a dwarven-made balista bolt. Inside they narrowly avoided an ambush by a single gnoll in the rafters. Üthred, Nadia, and Greedo spotted it by climbing the broken chimney. They pelted it with projectiles while Grimnîr and Thime breached the door. Suddenly, laughing and jeering erupted in the trees around them and javelins started flying. More gnolls were in the trees. \
The party got inside the building and prepared for the attack. Gnolls rushed the building but only after throwing a fire bomb the blasted open the back wall. Grimnîr’s face was shorn off. 2 of the gnolls got inside but Thyme earned his pay by landing both killing blows. \
As the fire consumed the building, the party assessed the damage. 4 dwarven-sized gnolls were dead; Grimnîr as well. Greedo recognized the crest on their chainmail as dwarves from the North Country (his origin). \
Sidwel and Euphemia let Greedo know they spotted an armored wagon in the woods behind the lodge, but they decided to head back to Fourtower. The building burned as they marched back to Fourtower with their comrade’s body. \
3rd day of the 12th week of Autumn. Heavy rain. Torches sputter on stands around a newly erected funeral mound.
In Fourtower, they had a proper dwarves funeral.
1000gp spent = 1000xp split between Raden and Greedo.
A mound was raised. Tablets pressed into the mound were carved with images of Grimnîr’s clan fighting orcs in battle. A dwarven choir sung his dirge. Üthred had two gnoll heads stuffed for the grave. Greedo planted a Willow on top.
